Retail Store Design

As the main second years project in my Interior Design and Architecture studies, we were given a brief to design a very exclusive retail outlet in Knightsbridge, London. The look required was modern, with a pleasing aesthetic, sophisticated ambiance and an element of shock. Display stands had to be individually commissioned to give the shop a strong, corporate image.

I designed a feminine, dark, art gallery-like space, where suspended copper and chrome frames hang from the ceiling, capturing each peace of clothing as an individual artwork. There are three different bespoke display units - the frames and circular displays are suspended in seamless wires and, thanks to the dark ambiance, look like floating in the air. The round display units are located on the floor, allowing to merchandise smaller items, like handbags, T-shirts, etc. I also designed a lighting feature where I combined the circular suspended displays and LED glass boxes.

Tom Dixon copper and chrome lighting design served as inspiration on my material choice, therefore I chose to use his beautiful copper shades as lighting feature in the space.

This is my favorite college project so far, and this was also my first attempt to produce 3d visualizations.
